When our kids first entered our home, they had many firsts. First time going to school, learning about birthdays and celebrating them, tooth fairy visits, vacations, play dates, Halloween, the list is really endless. The kids favorite, however, was Christmas. Leading up to Christmas, the kids helped decorate the house, put up the lights, stockings, and trim the tree. They soon began to hear about Santa and ask questions. I could tell by the way they were asking, they wanted to believe. After everything they had been through, in their short lives thus far, I could not tell them that there was no Santa. I did not really answer the question. Instead I responded with, what do you believe? Soon they began to write letters to Santa. Christmas day, when they saw presents under our tree with their names on them, I think they became full believers.
This year, the talk has been nothing but Santa. Do you think he can see and hear us? Do you think we are on the good list? You can spot Elijah volunteering to do extra dishes, and find extra chores… just to be sure he is on the good list this year! December first rolled around, and the kids soon began asking where is our elf? Apparently kids at school talk about their Elf on the Shelf. This year, being tight on a budget, we made do with a dollar store Elf. The kids fell in love with him, but this elf only sparked more curiosity about Santa.
I love how excited our kids are getting about Christmas and how they believe in magic. As a parent, I want to keep this spark alive for as long as I can.
Luckily I have been able to keep the magic alive for a little longer thanks to partnering up with YourSantagram!
When the kids came home from school, they immediately spotted Elmer the Elf (kids named him) sitting on top of the television with a special note saying, “Santa has a message for you!”
Their eyes immediately lit up!
They sat together on the couch and watched as Santa addressed each of them. They could not believe that Santa knew them. You can see little smirks as he mentioned facets of their lives. You can watch their confused, stunned, delighted faces below!
I love how personalized and detailed these videos come. You can see how my son went straight away to do his chore after the video (walk Tamale). Loved how Santa started off by saying he got his information from his top-secret elves. This tied perfectly with our little Elmer the Elf. You can see our personalized video below.
